Mat Certification

The Mat Program consists of a progressive and systematic three part series:

Basic Mat Course

This 16 hour course teaches the foundations of classical Mat Pilates. The course covers key concepts, critical connections, technique as well as building blocks and modifications. Additionally you will learn the tools to become an effective and dynamic teacher.

There is pre-course homework to prepare you, a mini exam on the last day and 30 logged hours to be completed after the course.

Intermediate Mat Course

In the second part of the Mat Series, we introduce new vocabulary and exercises as well as exploring the underlying principles for the exercise orders and progressions. We look at effective touch techniques, imagery cues and how to enhance movement quality. We will also explore general dos and don’ts, contraindications as well as strategies for class set-up, cueing and correcting.

There will be a theoretical and practical assessment day and you will need to submit a total of 75 logged hours within 6 months.

We will look to refine touch techniques, teaching methodology, imagery and progression. We will also teach you how to train your eye to see subtle alignment issues and deepen your understanding of the relationship between exercises.

Assessment will cover theory and practical. You will also need to submit 50 logged hours within 6 months.
